SINN Power wins the Cleantech Open Global Ideas Challenge 2019 in Los Angeles

Press release 25.11.2019

SINN Power won this year’s Cleantech Open Global Idea Challenge in Los Angeles with its innovative wave energy technology to supply people worldwide with clean and reliable energy from ocean waves.

SINN Power was invited to attend the Cleantech Open (CTO) Global Forum, which is a 3-day event to pave the way towards a sustainable future. Startups get a unique opportunity to meet potential partners and investors of the cleantech industry.

As part of SINN Power’s nomination as semi-finalist of the StartGreen Award 2019, StartGreen is Germany’s largest network for green startups, founder and investors, the RKW Kompetenzzentrum nominated SINN Power as one of the three national champions for the CTO Global Ideas Challenge and supported the trip to Los Angeles, USA. The participation certainly paid off for SINN Power: The German startup is Global Ideas Winner 2019 and brought the jackpot of $ 10.000 home!

The CTO Global Forum features an annual industry get-together and consists of a unique pitch workshop, several investor rounds with America’s best-known cleantech investors and two competitions, the CTO National Challenge and the CTO Global Ideas Challenge to distinguish innovations, both nationally and globally. The network discusses current climate issues and discovers new technologies to support environmentally-friendly solutions.

The event’s highlight is the support of startups and their business ideas in order to recognize and promote international growth to lead a path towards a sustainable future.

Johannes Stuck (Head of Business Development, SINN Power) is pitching SINN Power’s innovative wave energy technology at the Global Forum in Los Angeles

Johannes Stuck, Head of Business Development at SINN Power, is not only pleased with the result, but also very happy about the many impressions and experiences he was able to gain in Los Angeles: “I am very proud that we were able to take the award home as the Global Ideas Winner 2019! I am also very thankful to be a part of this impressive network and all the interesting talks we were enabled to have."

Above all, SINN Power is grateful for the deep insights into the American cleantech startup scene – Johannes Stuck and Philipp Sinn (CEO, SINN Power) are sure about one thing: “It is very impressive to experience first-hand how this network offers startups and their innovations great support from the industry to pave the way toward a sustainable future. We also really enjoyed meeting other partners of CTO such as the Network for Global Innovation (NGIN) and the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) – the entire network is committed to support young businesses in a very special way.”

Philipp Sinn (CEO, SINN Power) and Johannes Stuck (Head of Business Development, SINN Power) accept the reward as the Global Ideas Winner in Los Angeles.

Once again, SINN Power had the chance to share the potential of its high-tech wave energy converter to harness renewable energy from ocean waves in front of an expert audience. As part of the award ceremony of the StartGreen Awards on 20 November in Berlin, SINN Power was able to pitch again in front of the German audience and report on the impressions and experienced gained in Los Angeles, USA.
